Best Public Library in the World 2023 crafted using Scott Bader materials
SUMA Arquitectura is an international studio based in Madrid, formed by a team of professional designers. They produce singular architectures that challenge the limits of traditional architecture.
Challenge
SUMA Arquitectura faced the challenge of creating lightweight yet strong and weather resistant facade panels that are fire retardant, whilst maintaining the unique, eye-catching design of the Gabriel García Márquez library.
Solution
SUMA chose Scott Bader’s FST system of Fireguard 70PA and Crestapol 1211A, a urethane acrylate resin designed for applications requiring the highest levels of fire and smoke performance. It was chosen as it provides an excellent surface finish and is easy to handle whilst providing excellent mechanical and FST performance.
They also chose to bond the panels to the building surface using Crestabond M7-05 due to its market leading strength and durability.
Key advantages
SUMA Arquitectura chose to work with Scott Bader due to our product quality and excellent technical support, making the production of the facade panels simple, efficient and cost effective.
Results
The Gabriel García Márquez Library was voted the best library in the world in 2023.
It offers the local community an exceptionally diverse space that encourages information and knowledge. The public library is designed as a home, a welcoming space where everyone can find their place.
