Marking Black History Month at Scott Bader
Inclusion and diversity often go hand in hand but are different from one another. Inclusion is where people’s differences are valued and used to enable everyone to thrive at work. Diversity is all about our differences – recognising that everyone has different characteristics and circumstances, and that they bring different perspectives to the workplace.
Together they make unique individuals that make up a group of people and the environment that allows them to work together as equally valued contributors.
Here at Scott Bader, we aim to attract, develop, and inspire talent that unleashes innovation and allows us to perform at our very best and create a culture in which everyone feels they have an equal opportunity to participate and feel they belong.
October marks Black History Month which celebrates the continued achievements of Black people in the UK and around the world.
Did you know Black History Month was first launched in London during the 1980s, where the aim was for the local community to challenge racism and educate themselves and others about the British history that was not taught in schools?
Let’s continue to tackle racism, reclaim Black history, and ensure Black history is represented and celebrated all year round by people from all backgrounds. It’s time to enjoy and acknowledge the amazing things black people have achieved.
